Serving at Mass

If you're looking to get involved with serving at Mass, this is a good place to start. Readers assist by praying with and proclaiming the Sunday readings. A brief training is required.

Altar serving is open to middle school children and adults. Various duties during the Mass such as light/extinguish candles before/after Mass, carry the processional cross at beginning/after Mass, hold the missal book for the priest at the beginning and end of Mass, lead the procession of the gifts to the priest, assist the priest in preparing the altar, assisting with the thurible/incense and holy water (on rare occasions), washing of the priests hands prior to consecration time, ringing the bells during consecration time, remove vessels from the altar after communion). Training is available.

Help set up, prepare, and assist at cleanup after Mass. Training required.

EMs assist clergy in distributing the Holy Body and Precious Blood of Jesus during Holy Communion. Training is required.
